Msg: make tarball of 0.7.2 available with Jeff's timedread()
patch because 0.7 doesn't work very well with pop3s.

- remove ssl_verify_cert_chain() since it is bound
to the internal of openssl 0.9.7 and doesn't compile
on ms-windows. Thanks to bug report by

- don't really use timedrread() if SSL is enabled
since it doesn't work correctly.

Msg: use autogen.sh if you are using the CVS version
of libspopc. it will construct the configure
script.  Please help to add debug targets in
those generated Makefiles, since libspopc must
also be compiled with an EBUG #definition.
Currently, it is in old makefile.dev, and with
the 'yamd' tool. (read INSTALL please)
The configure script will always be present
only in the *public* releases of libspopc.

build on different unices. The old Makefile
is moved as 'makefile.dev' for the old way
of compiling and debugging libspopc.
The new generated Makefile has currently no
